Roman Koerner fulfills the role as Head of Device and Technology Development at TRUMPF Photonic Components and is responsible for the global VCSEL development.
The field of sensing and data communication sets an unprecedented demand for new features and advanced capabilities of the VCSEL laser device. Thus, increasing the functionality per VCSEL chip area without decreasing yield or lifetime constraints in high volume manufacturing is the challenge the VCSEL industry currently faces. Advanced features like grating structures and integrated lenses offer new degrees of freedom while technology leaps for eye-tracking and long wavelength VCSELs becoming within reach. Our vision of future technology trends in the VCSEL industry will be discussed during the presentation.
